A growing fast casual restaurant chain has planted its headquarters on a busy corner in Far North Dallas.
Velvet Taco Inc. is moving its offices from Plano to the northeast corner of the Dallas North Tollway and Belt Line Road.
The restaurant firm has rented more than 10,600 square feet of office space in The Commons office building at 15110 North Dallas Parkway.
Built in 1982, the six-story office building was recently given a makeover by owner Houston-based Triten Real Estate Partners.
Velvet Taco has had a restaurant on the ground floor since 2020. The new restaurant office will be on the second floor.
“Velvet Taco is experiencing rapid growth, and with our new Restaurant Support Office, we’ll be able to support our operators even better,” CEO Clay Dover said in a statement. “The Commons’ location is ideal for our new offices as its centrally located to all our DFW-based restaurants, close to airports and allows us to retain the top talent that Dallas is known for.”
Velvet Taco’s offices will open in the fall.
The 90,000-square-foot Commons building is one of two properties Triten Real Estate owns along Belt Line Road.
The developer is also repurposing an office and retail complex overlooking Prestonwood Country Club. The project is called Work/Shop and includes 135,000 square feet of office space and 81,500 square feet of retail east of the tollway.
“Adding Velvet Taco’s restaurant support office to the roster at The Commons is an incredible win for the asset and for Triten,” partner John Hardaway said in a statement. “The Common’s repositioning helped land Velvet Taco’s first Addison restaurant location located at the south end of the property facing Belt Line Road.”
CBRE Group’s Shannon Brown, Ben Davis , Rich Flaten and John Ellerman negotiated the Velvet Taco office lease.
Founded in 2011, Velvet Taco has restaurants in Charlotte, Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston.
