The Plano Market Square Mall will transform from an outdated, 300,000 square foot, 1980s shopping relic into a modern, outdoor-friendly, mixed-use destination named “Assembly Park”.
Located along Central Expressway and Spring Creek Parkway, directly between the new Legacy Central development and the beloved Oak Point Nature Preserve, Assembly Park will feature 180,000 square feet of reimagined creative office space, 305 Class-A urban-style apartments and townhome units, and 16,000 square feet of walkable concept-driven retail and dining space. The office, retail, and residential surround newly developed parks and green space which will include family-friendly kids play structure, dog parks, and an event stage providing visitors and users with a daytime escape and an evening hub of entertainment. Regular on-site programming will include outdoor fitness classes, live music, nighttime movie screenings, farmers markets, and festivals. In addition to the parks, the entirety of the site will be surrounded by newly paved bike paths connecting the site's visitors to the surrounding community and paths leading to Oak Point Nature Preserve - Plano’s largest park with over eight miles of concrete trails as well as kayaking and paddle boarding facilities, and the home of the annual Plano Hot Air balloon festival.
